Heat exchangers for heat pumps

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps are increasingly recognized as a more sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional air treatment systems.

They use energy already present in the environment — in air, water, or ground — for heating and cooling processes, significantly reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

In recent years, their use has grown rapidly thanks to their versatility and energy efficiency.

Today, even though the technology is mature, the new challenge lies in switching to natural or low-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants, which require components designed according to completely renewed criteria.

In this context, heat exchangers play a central role: they must deliver high performance and reliability under highly variable operating conditions, adapting to seasonal heating and cooling cycles.

Scambiatori di calore per pompe di calore DBM Coils

Tailored thermal control solutions for every application

DBM has extensive experience designing and manufacturing reversible coils for heat pumps using low-GWP refrigerants such as CO₂, R32, and R290, in addition to traditional refrigerants and azeotropic or zeotropic blends (e.g., R134a, R410A, R507A, R717A, R407C, etc.).

Our products can comply, upon request, with EN378 and EN14276 standards, with design pressures ranging from 24 to 42 bar(g).

For CO₂ systems, we offer special high-pressure configurations up to 130 bar(g), made with stainless steel or CuFe₂P tubes and headers.

DBM selection software

Our selection software allows easy sizing of reversible heat exchangers, automatically verifying performance during condensation and evaporation, selecting the most suitable materials for design pressures, and checking PED category compliance.

This is particularly important for ensuring proper system assessment and full regulatory compliance in applications with high-pressure refrigerants such as CO₂, or “flammable” refrigerants like R290 and R32.
